Managing Director/CEO, uac of Nigeria Plc, Mr. Larry Ettah has explained the firm's involvement in the nation's educational sector, saying it is targeted at impacting positively on the lives of youngsters.
The company, he, therefore said is more than committed to turning around as well as upgrading the quality of education in the country.
Mr. Ettah stated this at Ikogosi on the outskirts of Ekiti State while commissioning a classroom block donated to the community's primary school by uac's subsidiary, Warm Spring Waters Nigeria Limited, makers of GOSSY Warm Spring Water.
The uac's intervention in education he said, was its contribution to building an army of future young and brilliant Nigerians.
“Our interventionist project on education is geared towards impacting positively on the lives of young, sometimes helpless Nigerians, who need trusted shoulders to rest their future. We at uac of Nigeria Plc, in the spirit of ‘doing good' are ever ready to contribute our quota towards building a standing army of young, brilliant Nigerians to take charge of our tomorrow”.
“We are mindful of the huge infrastructural academic and sometimes moral challenges faced by our schools and students. We are equally unmistaken on the fact that, as a company, we can only make contribution towards the turn-around of the educational sector in Nigeria ”, he noted”.
Mr. Ettah, who frowned at the absence of infrastructure as well as neglect in several schools, declared that the situation needed to be arrested or the country risked imminent disaster.
He consequently implored other corporate organisations and well-meaning Nigerian to urgently contribute towards re-building the nation's lost educational glory.
Speaking also, the Managing Director of Warm Spring Waters Nigeria Limited, Mr. Emma Osugo said the gesture is part of the firm's corporate social responsibility (CRS).
He promised that the goodwill would be expanded, especially if the company is further empowered financially.
The Onikogosi of Ikogosi-Ekiti, Oba Elijah Abiodun Olorunisola, while responding to the gesture, noted that “faces of men appear only for a time, but their images and contributions appear forevermore”.
He then reiterated his people's readiness to continue to cooperate with the uac Group at large and GOSSY water particularly.
Member of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Bayo Ajayi Executive Secretary said GOSSY water is the first company to identify with the government school assisted programme (SAP) and to donate a fully equipped classroom block in the state
He reassured of the board's willingness to partnering with public-spirited individuals and organisations like the uac who have similar programmes. –
