The Board of UACN Property development company (UPDC) Plc has announced Mr Hakeem Ogunniran as its new Managing Director. Also appointed are Mr Babatunde Oladele Kasali and Mrs. Halima Tayo Alao, as non-executive directors. The appointments took effect from January 13.
Mr Ogunniran, a former Divisional Managing Director of MDS Logistics, a Division of UAC of Nigeria Plc, takes over from Mr Abdul Bello, recently appointed Chief Financial Officer and an Executive Director of UACN Plc. Mrs. Alao, an architect, is a former Minister of Environment, Housing and Urban Development, while Mr Kasali is the Managing Partner of Babs Kasali & Co. a firm of Chartered Accountant.
Ogunniran, who holds LL.B, Master of Law (LL.M) and MBA degrees from the University of Lagos, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1985. He is the immediate past President and Chairman of Council of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria.
He joined UACN Plc as Manager, Legal Services in 1995. Between 1998 and March 2000, he served as Western Area Manager, Marketing Manger, GBO/MDS Division of UACN and Acting Managing Director of UPDC at various times (2000) and the Strategic Leadership Programme of Cranfield University, UK.
Mrs. Alao, who holds Bachelor and Master’s of science degrees in architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and a master’s degree in Public Administration form the University of Ilorin, attended the Advanced Management and Leadership Programme of the University of Oxford, UK.
Mr Kasali, a 1977 Economics graduate of Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria. He had extensive accounting, auditing and banking career experience spanning reputable international firms such as Ernest & Young and Amex Bank Plc in the UK.
